Bleeding in week 26

So maybe TMI but the point of the blog was to track the pregnancy...

Last night after a long day on my feet at PB&Js (local bounce house), lifting Kaleigh up and down on to the bouncy houses, cleaning of the house (sweeping and mopping), doing dishes, and then my water aerobics class. I got home and experienced some bleeding. It was not super heavy but it was bright red so we called the doctor. The doctor said as long as the bleeding does not get worse I can take it easy and come in to see them in the morning.
This morning I called them and told them I am still having a bit of bleeding and pain in my cervix and my body was sore. As a result they wanted to see me straight away.
In the end the doctor discovered my cervix was closed! However, the bleeding was coming from the cervix from just doing too much during the day! They determined that my cervix was swollen and sensitive so as a result I need to go tot he doctor every two weeks and take it EASY.

I am on modified bedrest till the bleeding stops and pelvic rest for two weeks. I then have to be take it much easier for the rest of the pregnancy and I need to stop lifting/carring Kaleigh. Curtis and I will be talking about Kaleigh starting preschool the first of May.

Things to do on a rainy day

Not about pregnancy but thought it would be good to share and keep for my own records!

Today it is cold and rainy so I thought it would be nice for Kaleigh and I to have an indoor day. The problem with indoor days is that Kaleigh gets board and then gets herself in trouble! That is why I plan daily to take Kaleigh outside and then after nap a craft.
Today was a bit different and I think she had a fun time!

1st around 9:00am we built a fort and played inside it:

After she became tired of that we had a snack and story time about 10am:

Unfortunatly snacks and story time never lasts long! Around 10:15am we started to make no-kneed bread, Kaleigh style!

I think at this point Kaleigh began to get a bit tired! I felt it was way too early still for a nap so we then took funny face pictures at around 10:45

After we played some Dora color computer games...had never tried it before but she really enjoyed it!

Dora Big Sister

So when Curtis and I planned this pregnancy we had all these ideas and plans of how to get Kaleigh ready for the baby. We knew at Kaleigh's age she wouldn't really understand but we had hoped to at least try! However, we had no idea how fast this pregnancy would go by! We have been putting it off saying we have so much time and now I am 25 weeks and 4 days and we have no idea where the time has gone!

We are now trying to think of ways to introduce Kaleigh to the idea of the baby! She knows mommy has a baby in her belly...and she loves playing mommy belly, she sticks out her tummy and walks around! We also have a Dora where she becomes a big sister but its not really a good one, as it is Dora. I am going to the library Wednesday to get some big sister books and we have just purchased a couple online.
We are also going to take Kaleigh to a "Big sister/brother" class that has been recomended to us. It is through Napa Community resources at the local Hospital, we will take her in June.

Well this is Kaleigh sharing with the baby in mommy's belly!

She is such a loving child I know she is going to be a great big sister! We will just need to be careful about how she is showing her love!!

My ever growning belly! I have now gained 8lb...I need to be careful from here about what I eat!

oh what a beautiful life

It is such a sigh of relief when I can feel the baby movement! He/she is now moving all the time and I love every second of it!

This morning both my little ones were dancing and enjoying the "toddler tunes" I had on while Kaleigh and I got ready for the day! One was doing a tap dance in my belly and the other was spinning in circles shaking her "bum bum." I can not express the joy I have with being a mother and although it is hard and frustrating at times it is amazing!

Yesterday we went to six flags with Naomi and Lena and saw more animals and rode a couple rides! We saw dolphins, pet sting rays, saw a sea lion show, rode a train, went on a carousel, and even a little kid hot air balloon ride (Kaleigh was not a big fan). Kaleigh had a blast and after 3ish hours at six flags slept 3 hours at nap time!

Today Kaleigh had he two friends come over Lena and Sam! They had so much fun together and as Curtis was working it was nice to have adult conversations too! They played with Play dough I had just made, Lego's, and with the water ball (although the other two didn't seem to be as much of fans as Kaleigh is)!

I am so glad we have found friends since moving out here! I am lucky because I know if I have an emergency I know there are at least three people I could call for help!

We have our Baby outfits and names

Well the names are official!

Boy: His name will be Jack Curtis Beckemeyer!

Jack was a name we have always agreed on and important to me as it is my dad's dad's name! I didn't get much of a chance to know my grandfather as he was in England and died when I was young, but what I did know of him I loved and knew he was a great man! Curtis was very happy to agree to the name Jack as he feels it is important for family names.
The middle name for Jack was much more of a challenge and we spent many nights searching and debating. I first mentioned Curtis as the middle name as a joke, but I liked it as soon as I said it. Curtis however did not want to name a child after himself saying, "I would rather give the child a name of a person that has done something great and important." I told him he is a person I would want to name our child after...that was the end of that debate!

This will be the coming home outfit for Jack Curtis

Girl: Her name will be Taylor Paige Beckemeyer!

We debated a bunch over this name because we could not find a family name (which Curtis really wanted) that we both liked. Kaleigh's name came to me in a dream one night and although it too is not a family name I knew it was the perfect name for her! This time we could not find a name that we both felt the same pull too as we did with Kaleigh. I don't know if that's because we didn't know the sex or both felt it was going to be a boy?
After both sitting down on the computer and going through family names and baby names online Curtis found the name Taylor. It was a couple days later but after thinking about 4 names Taylor became the right name for this baby!
After deciding on Taylor a middle name was easier to decide on!

This will be Taylor Paige's coming home outfit

So Kaleigh didn't fee left out I got her a swim suite

Oh the changes of pregnancy

So I am not complaining at all because I am LOVING being pregnant but...

~Why is it that when you are pregnant your legs never seem to stop twitching? I can no longer fall asleep without taking a bath first!

~A bit personal but...whenever I am pregnant from the waste up my veins stick out and are dark blue. Not a bad thing but I think its a bit strange. You can see my veins if I wear a white shirt!

~I understand my heart has to work twice as hard because of the blood volume but it only takes twice the work for my heart to palpatate the way it is?

~The smallest things make me emtional be it sad, mad, or happy!

~Oh and the strangest of all...being pregnant makes me want to watch "Baby Story", "Birth Day", and those sort of shows!

fetal echo

This afternoon was baby's fetal echo! The results are that the baby looks PERFECT! The doctor said he can see no structural problems and if there is anything thing he can not see it and should not be any problem!
We also still do not know the sex however both Curtis and I think it looks like a boy. We had hoped for some great photos but little baby would not work with the ultrasound tech. At first we were concerned that we would not be able to do the fetal echo, but after walking around a bit the doctor was able to do the fetal echo!

Kaleigh came to the ultrasound too with Curtis and I and she was great! She was a bit upset when the doctors where touching me telling everyone, "My mommy" but in all very good! She loved seeing her little brother/sister!

Baby sling

After reading all the recalls on baby slings I decided for this child I would make my own. Not because it is cheaper but because I am confident in my ability and I can make it any pattern I like! When Kaleigh was a newborn I did have a sling but after lending it to a family friend and then not getting it back I decided to model my sling "like" that one with some modifications. I also looked into different designs of babyslings and prefered this style!

23 weeks and 3 days pregnant

This pregnancy is flying by! I hope it stays that way. I am also very greatful that I now have a migraine medication that works and I am no longer suffering like I had been!
23 weeks and 3 days...my belly sure is growing! Up 5.5lb...I need to start watching what I am eating

My mom left today and it was sad to see her leave. Kaleigh cried all the way home from the airport. The good thing is that we will be in GA in 6 weeks!

Ob update!

I was lucky enough to be able to change my monthly OB apointment to yesterday instead of next week so that my mom could watch Kaleigh. My mom and Kaleigh spent some time walking around Saint Helena while I went to my apointment.

The doctor apointment went very well! I am gaining some weight (5lb total), which the doctor had been concerned about last visit. I also asked some questions I had been concerned about:

1. Can my high heart rate effect the baby? It didn't with Kaleigh but you never know with this one.

2. Because I was over weight when I got pregnant, how much weight should I gain? The doctor was very surprised I asked and told me I was not over weight but just slightly bigger than average. She told me to gain at least 20lb and try not to go over 25lb.

3. With Kaleigh she was always head down from the point I could feel movement to the time I delievered. This baby is breach and I want to know when I could expect the baby to turn and at what point they are concerned about the baby being breach? She said that turning can happen anytime up to delievery. They are concerned after 35 weeks because the likelyhood of the baby turning after that point is much less likely because of the size of the baby.

The doctor then listened to the baby's heart rate, 145bpm. It was at that point that she asked the sex of the baby. I told her that we do not know the sex of the baby and not findout till the baby is born. She thought that was great and made a note on my chat to NOT talk about the sex of the baby (if they know). She also measured my uterus and I was measuring right at 24 weeks, right on track.

Wednesday next week is the fetal echo! Curtis is taking the time off work so that I WILL be going to the appointment and not having to deal with DUMB people who don't show up.

Past couple days

Well Friday of Last week my mom came into town! It has been nice to have an extra hand around the house and with Kaleigh. Kaleigh LOVES her nanny and has her wrapped around her finger. Kaleigh knew who her nanny was as soon as she saw her! I think without a webcam she would have no idea who any of her grandparents are!

Sunday was Easter and although it rained we all had a blast! My mom made a very yummy dinner for us and our friends. I think it was important for my mom to see that we are making good friends and adjusting to our life in California.
Baby belly at Easter and Kaleigh's friend at Easter

Today we had a great time at CornerStone Gardens! I had never been before and a friend had recommended taking my mom there, I am glad we went. Kaleigh had a great time exploring all the different gardens and sculptures and my mom enjoyed the sunshine and uniqueness of CornerStone!
