Round ligament Pain

So last night was the first time in this pregnancy I have had round ligament pains. They are not nearly as painful as they were with Kaleigh, but I had forgotten how uncomfortable they really are! It is funny how you forget some of those discomforts druring pregnancy!

Although pregnancy is truly an amazing and beautiful thing; people often forget or just don't want to talk about the not so beautiful and not so amazing things. When you feel the baby move(amazing), the big pregnant belly (beautiful), bringing a baby into the world (amazing and beautiful), pregnancy gas (amazingly gross), migraines and ligament pains (beautifully painful), and after giving birth (amazing gross and beautifully painful).

However, bringing a baby into the world is worth more than any and all the bad things!

I love being a mom and feel honored that God has given me another chance to bring a little baby into the world!!

The most important moment in my life:

Cloth Diapers!

Curtis and I may not have been 100% on the same page about not finding out the sex of the baby, but cloth diapers were Curtis idea. Curtis heard how much cheaper cloth diapers are even after water and electric are alll figured in. He brought the idea up to me and asked if we could do a diaper service. We did some research and a diaper service would cost the same as disposals so we decided no.

I then did some research and found a lady in Napa who is part of the Napa Mom's Club that sells cloth diapers. I went over to her house and told her we want something easy and cheap! We decided to go for it and bought two types of cloth diapers...Gro baby and Happy Heinys.

We started using them today and so far so good! As we are potty training Kaleigh she will only wear them when we go out and at night. Then when the baby is born we will use them after the first 2 weeks of the baby's life!

It's going to be an adventure!!

officially not finding out the sex!

I have decided and got Curtis to go along with the idea...of not finding out the sex of the baby! I am so excited to not know! Yes I am going to go crazy but I think in the end we will be glad that we waited! Most of the labor is going to be predictable as I will be induced so it's nice to have some surprise!

This is a picture of our little bean from our first ultrasound! We will have new Ultrasound photos March 10th:

I was so proud of myself last night

I went to the water aerobics class! I was so proud of myself for going because I was really nervous and I hate doing new things. Yes I know I moved across country and was fine. I have made new friends and I am fine. However, it is NOT my natural personality to but myself out there and start over. I have had to do things that make me nervous and/or uncomfortable to make friends, BUT I am happy for what I have done for US!

So the water aerobics class was GREAT! It felt nice to be in the water and I talked with the ladies there. Most were first time moms and between the ages of 25 and 45 but some second time moms. Most were latter in there pregnancies and I loved seeing the big baby bellies! I think pregnant women are beautiful. I was also a bit surprised that of the 18-20 women there half were in bikinis and no stretch marks (I was so jealous)!!

I am hoping to be able to go to the class at least once a week! I would love to go twice a week but we will see when Curtis is able to get home from work and if he is up to looking after Kaleigh for an hour while the baby and I go have fun :)!

The baby had a great time too. I don't feel the baby move very much through out the day but as soon as I got in the water he went crazy moving and pushing on me! I think as he gets bigger it is only going to get more fun getting in the water! It also relaxed my body and round ligaments!

Water Aerobics

So The Queen of the valley (local hospital) offers this really cool program for pregnant women. They offer a good number of FREE classes including water aerobics, big brother or sister classes, first time daddy classes, and many others!

Two weeks ago I tried to go to the water aerobics class but Curtis had to work late that night and since they don't offer child care I was unable to attend. I hope maybe tongiht he will be able to get off so that I am able to go! However, he will not know until right before.

I am a little nervous to go by myself. I know that may sound silly but new things are hard! I know I will love it if I go! I need to just do it!

I also talked to the doctor earlier today and asked if he thought I should go. He said that the water could be good to take some of the pressure off my round ligaments and as long as I do NOT try and do much it may help keep labor at bay for a couple more months.

To findout the sex or not!

So I have been thinking about not finding out the sex of the baby!

I really want to know but I can not get over how much fun it would be to have Curtis tell me, "It's a....!" as I have him/her. I just don't know what I want! I also don't want to lose my sanity while waiting to find out the sex.

Curtis on the other hand...wants to find out! He told me he would think about it and "let it sit in his head." He said he would be more than happy to find out and not tell me. I told him that is NOT happening! I know if that was to happen then Curtis and I would fight and I really do not want to cause a fight.

Oh well, we will see what we decide. Maybe tomorrow these pregnancy hormones will make me see that I must find out! That's another reason I want Curtis behind me because I know as I get closer and MORE hormonal I will need his support!

My justification for waiting

~It would be so exciting on the day of his/her birth for Curtis to tell me "It's a...!"

~We already have a crib, changing table, and all the basic essentials that a baby needs. These things would not change if it is a girl or a boy

~ The room would be painted the same color if it was a boy or girl. If it was a girl the room would be green because I hate pink and Kaleigh's room is purple already. If it was a boy the room would still be green because our bedroom is blue and we don't want the rooms to be the same color.

~ Although we kept Kaleigh's clothing as a baby they are in GA so it would all still have to be shipped out here. Also if it's a boy a close friend said we could borrow her son's clothing.

Justifications for finding out the sex

~KNOW the sex

~Prepared with having the correct baby clothing when the baby is born

~More gender specific bedding set

Modified Bed rest is eaiser said then done!

So today I have not had any more contractions, YAY!

I am trying my best to stick to the modified bedrest thing but it is sooo hard. Kaleigh needs me and just can not understand why mommy can't play like I used too. I was always the mom playing tag and going down the slide with Kaleigh. Not only because she wanted me too, but because I wanted to do those things.

I almost feel like I am having to choose between Kaleigh and this pregnancy. So to help with this we plan to put Kaleigh into preschool 2-3 times a week! She will have fun and I can rest too! She will start after her second Birthday!

Well anyway, today Kaleigh and I took advantage of the beautiful weather and spent most of the day outside!

modified Bed rest

After last night and going to the doctor I have been told to go on modified bedrest. That means I can't lift Kaleigh and if I do not "have" to be up and moving then I shouldn't be.
I am sooo tired and Kaleigh is not napping!! WHY?

One of the worst nights in my life

Well last night was the worst night of my life.

At 3AM I was woken from a deep sleep with horrible contractions! Yes they were real contractions and not cramping because I could feel my uterus becoming tight. At first I figured BH contracts but after haveing 3 withing 25min I got up and called my doctor. I didn't want to wake Curtis or Kaleigh up so I was doing my best to deal with it without going to the ER.

The call went to the docotor's answering service and the lady oncall told me to drink some water and relax. So I went back to bed and had a HUGE glass of water. At 4am and the doctor NOT calling me back I called the nurse and said I will be going to the ER in the next hour if I do not get a call from the doctor.

At 4:30 and 3 contractions between 4-4:30 I made myself use the restroom and I had a BM (sorry if TMI) . I then got into a warm bath and relaxed, with the phone next to me and another HUGE glass of water, for the next 45 min. I could tell the warm water was helping me relax and help with the contractions. In that time I only had 2 contractions and they were less painful than the others.

I finally got a return call at 5:15am and the doctor asked me questions and at this point the contractions were stopping. I now have an appointment for this morning to check everything out, so pray for this baby in my belly!

I never was able to fall back asleep after all that! I kept expecting a contraction and bleeding to start! However it is now 8:45am and my last contraction was at 5:38am this morning. I have also had no bleeding so all that is a good sign. I am too early to count kicking because some days I may not feel the baby at all. I wish I could feel the baby kick because it really would settle my mind a bit!

I have also had 5 huge glasses of water and peeing every 15 min!

Curtis and I didn't have time to talk this morning (he refused to get out of bed this morning) he was running late. So he still doesn't know what is going on with the baby. I tried calling him but he is at work and I don't think an e-mail is the best way to explain what happened. Kaleigh is being really good and not demanding to be picked up so I am able to relax a little.

Due date drama

So today I had a regular checkup with the OB. This time Kaleigh tagged along and she was very good for a 2 year old.I was a bit annoyed when it took an hour for the doctor to come in but I had no idea how angry I would soon become. Call it hormones or just my personality but I was not a happy camper when I was told I was almost 14 weeks.

I told the doctor very calmly that I am 15 weeks and 1 day. She then said, "no your due date is Aug 15th so you will be 14 weeks in the next couple days."

I did not like the idea of having to wait 10 extra days to find out the sex or be induced if I was late (because the placenta starts to die after 42 weeks, so it would be a risk to my child). I knew for a fact when I had ovulated because Curtis and I had been trying for months and I had learned the signs of ovulation. I also added I found out I was pregnant the day before Thanksgiving and if your date was right I had not even ovulated yet when I got my positive test. I also had to add, being the person I am and showing people their stupidity, according to their records of my visits my first appointment was made when I was 7 weeks and 6 days (according to their ultrasound; there for today I would be 15 weeks and 1 day.

As a result the doctor looked back at her records and agreed that my first visit I had been 7 weeks and 5-6 days, making me due August 5 or 6. She then decided to do an ultrasound to double check. So I am very happy to say I got to see my baby again today! Heartbeat looked great and he/she is starting to look like a real person. He/She has little arms and legs with a huge head, normal! I love getting ultrasounds!

She told me that she was not looking at anything about the baby other than the heart and size to get a due date. I said that was fine and thank you for sorting all this out. I had hoped she would print me off a picture of the baby but she did not, but Kaleigh did get to see her little brother or sister! Now only Curtis is out of the loop :)

We go find out the sex on March 10th and I can not wait!!

BeBand

Today I went to Target and got the coolest thing ever. I have seen them online and always thought they were great but cost $35! I could NEVER rationalize spending that much money on a piece of fabric. So when I saw the BeBand at Walmart I had to try it! I bought it and honestly didn't think it was going to work that well but it's great!
Right now my belly is too big for my normal pants and not yet big enough for my maternity pants. As a result I spend half my day pulling my pants up and its driving me nuts! So this BeBand is a tight stretchy material that helps keep my pants up! I put it on as soon as I got home and its been hours since I have had to pull up my pants!

Today Kaleigh and I toured a preschool in Napa. It was ok but for the price I really don't think it was that impressive. My goal is to put her in a preschool before the baby is born so that she gets adjusted and makes new friends. I really wanted to put her in a Christian school but they are all co-op type programs or do not start till she is three. I have a couple more preschool tours set up so we will see how they all go!

Today I am exactly 15 weeks! I thought I looked nice in my preschool touring outfit so I took a couple photos!

Physical Theropy

Well a couple weeks ago at the park Kaleigh and I went on a slide and I flew off the end. I landed VERY hard on my tail bone, but luckily Kaleigh was not hurt. The pain was intense and took my breath away. However, I brushed it off and really had no choice but continue on. A couple days later the pain became more intense when sitting, driving, getting up and down, and flexing butt muscles. I knew I had broken my tail bone and nothing could be done about it.

I mentioned it to my OB at my monthly check and she became concerned. I tried to tell her that yes it hurt like HELL but only time would make it better. I told her that I was only mentioning it so she would double check on the baby. I knew the baby had plenty of protection and more than likely hadn't even noticed the fall, but I want to double check anyways. She checked the baby and it sounded great so I was thinking that would be it. Little did I know the midwife decided I need to get checked because she feared it would get in the way when I delivered. So I made the appointment and she insisted that his (the physical therapist) finding be faxed to her ASAP.

Well today was my appointment and what did the therapist say? He can not help me because I am pregnant and there really is nothing to fix the tail bone but time. He was really nice and was very interested in my history...who wouldn't be I am a freaking mystery :)! I will go back a couple months after the baby is born.

As a result I am currently sitting on a doughnut pillow...

Fears

I have an irrational fear, because of previous miscarriages, that I am going to lose this baby. I have made it much further this time but I still worry about it all the time. I worry about everything I feel and if it's normal. I am truly hoping this is the hormones that are making me worry so much!Hormones mess with your emotions, mood, dreams, cravings, and these silly migraines.
I don't remember being so Hormonal with Kaleigh. However, when my brother-in-law hid my cookie one day I did start crying. Maybe I was and do not remember right now...I do know the migraines were not the same.

This is a photo of my belly at 14 weeks and 4 days. Not very flaturing I know, but I know I am going to be glad to have these photos later on!

Enjoying the peace

So last night Curtis and I went on a date! It was lots of fun! We went to a restaurant called Celadon in downtown Napa. We had then planned to catch a movie, but the joys of pregnancy took hold and I had to pass on the movie. With this pregnancy the migraines have been unbearable and I knew a 3-D movie would be bad. We then decided to go to Walmart (yes thats right, Walmart)! We got a Red Box movie and came home. It was nice to just spend time together without a little one!

I have to say this pregnancy is going remarkable fast! I am only 14 weeks and 2 days and I feel like things are already almost over. With Kaleigh's pregnancy time seemed to stop after 30 weeks...I am hoping not this time! I am determined to enjoy this pregnancy, good and bad!

Kaleigh already being a great big sister

Well for the past couple weeks we have been telling Kaleigh she is going to be a big sister and mommy has a baby in her belly. We know she doesn't really understand but she would give the "baby(mommy's belly)" kisses and if we ask her where the baby is she will point to my belly.

Then last night right before bed time she ran up to me after bath time and pulls up my shirt. I figured she was going to tickle me as she loves tickling everyone, boy was I wrong. She then proceeds to press her eye into my belly button and call out, "BABY!" She then tried to pull apart my belly button to see the baby and calling out to it! The last I could take was she picked up her baby's bottle and stuck it in my belly button!Curtis and I almost died laughing! I then had to get Curtis to help me pull her off me when she realized we were laughing.

She is going to be an amazing big sister and this baby is very lucky to have her as a big sister!

Baby movement

I was watching TV and felt a strange bubbling feeling. I felt the baby move! It is so exciting and simply amazing! I can't wait till I feel him/her really kick all the time!
It brings back the memories of spending hours in bed before falling asleep feeling Kaleigh. So many time I could tell when it was her arm or leg. I can't wait for that feeling again!

Migraines

Well last night was one of the worst nights of my life. I had a migraine that caused me to black out and hardly stand. Curtis was great, as always, and helped as much as he could. Normally I could treat the migraine with medication but almost ALL medications for migraines are a NO-NO during pregnancy. As a result Curtis held me as I cried myself to sleep.

This morning the migraine was not much better so Curtis couldn't go to work. I spent most of the morning in bed while Curtis called my doctors and looked after Kaleigh. The doctors were a pain in the ASS because they don't want pregnant women to take any medication. Finally they seemed to get the fact that passingout is more dangerous to the baby then some medications.

Finally at 2pm, Curtis had been calling since 9am, they have put through a medication and highly suggested I stop my high sodium diet. They beleive the sodium is causing my body to retain water in my head causeing more pressure!
